I had 2 more days in Bangkok. One before Koh Tao and one after. I loved Bangkok my fist time through but hadn't been to KhoaSan Road. KhoaSan road is the backpacker area and is meant to be really touristy. I loved it in the end. It has shops open at all hours and even if there's a McDonald's, there's a guy selling Pad Thai in front of the McD's for 15 bhat, or 50¢.....how can you not love that?!? My first day I booked my ticket to Koh Tao and then walked to the Grand Palace. It was beautiful! I met a girl there who befriended me quickly. She had been threatened by a tuk tuk driver earlier that day and was scared to be alone. She was young and new to travelling so we spent the morning together. After the Grand Palace I really wanted some AC and wifi. It was boiling hot and I was very behind on my blog. I went to Starbucks, and only after spending more than I had on lunch AND dinner for a tea and a muffin did I find out that the wifi wasn't free! Ugh! I worked on the blog anyways and later, at my travel agency, uploaded everything. The rest of the day I walked around exploring this new area and doing some shopping. I met some people I had shared a dorm room with in Vietnam on my bus to Koh Tao and before I knew it I was at the island.
My second time with Sinead was just a lot of wandering. By the time we got up, moved our bags, organized an airport shuttle, looked for her friend, found her friend, had lunch, and found Sinead a room it was time for me to catch the shuttle. After a short ride and a VERY expensive sandwich at the airport I was boarding for Singapore and then BALI!
