Island Paradise

A quick sleepover in Managua and our taxi arrived to take us to the airport. It's crazy how one city can have nice houses with sidewalks and falling down shacks in neighbourhoods next to each other. This city is a contradiction in itself.

I was ready for a new destination...especailly to some islands. I love the re-useable boarding passes they gave us! However, it was first come, first served seating! lol

My first view of the island...

We  arrived in the Corn Islands today. We had a brief stopover in a small place called Bluefield. And, maybe 20 minutes later, we were flying low over turquoise waters and white sand. I couldn't wait to get off the plane and explore. A small taxi, with his hatchback open to fit our bags, drove us to a pathway beside the cobblestone road. We were skeptical at first but saw a sign with our hostel name. We started a steep climb up, worried, but it was only 75 metres. Here's the view looking down the path. Not  too bad!
We are staying in an Eco Hostel who does its best to sustain itself, on this tiny island. It's a tent with aseparate  building with the most beautiful bathroom.

It's AH-mazing! The Australian owner greeted us with home made banana bread!
A quick change into my bathing suit and I was ready to explore!
Just some of the gorgeous images I took. We stopped for lunch at a woman's house. She cooks for you while you sit on her porch. She tells you what she has and gives you a choice on how to cook it. I had some lobster tail! Yum!
Afterwards, we went for a quick dip in the ocean and as the sun set on the other side of the island, we headed back to our hotel for a shower and some wifi time! I sit here writing and listening to the waves crashing on the shore and the frogs singing their summer melodies. I think we may need to extend this portion of our trip and stay longer in paradise.
