Leading up to this trip, it didn't feel real, or like it was going to happen. I guess I just had so many other things to fill my time. Last night though, when I was sitting on my new, smaller bag, trying to close it, I realized that this is happening! Just to go back to the bag for a minute. I loved my Deuter backpack from before, but it was way too big...like my legs buckled when I walked big. So, I invested in a new bag, because I hope to continue having adventures. My new bag is significantly smaller and I was cursing my decision last night. In fact, I almost dug the old bag out. To give you an example of size difference, my old bag was 70 litres plus a 10 litre daypack which couldn't be used when it was attached to the big bag. My new Osprey bag is 55 litres...including daypack. I believe the main pack is 40 litres and the daypack is 15, and can thankfully be used when attached. Plus, Jan, who I'm meeting in Nicuragua, is a bad influence and I am bringing way too much. I'm sure I won't eat all the protein bars I brought!!! Aw well, at least I won't need to go to a store for a single thing while I'm away! haha...well except for shampoo and conditioner, which didn't make the cut yesterday when I was trying to cram everything in!

On the Road Again!
Welll, here I am, waiting at the airport in Calgary. My first backpacking adventure since my amazing year of travels. I am so nervous. Yes, I feel like I have the experience to do this and I definitely know more about what I'm doing than before. But, like anything, the longer you're away to less you feel you know...or that's how I feel anyways. Besides, I'm jumping right into a third world country instead of easing in like last time! Wow, did I actually do that trip by myself! Sometimes I am still in awe that I lived that whole experience. Anyways, I'm not sure how many people will read this but this is for my grandpa who asked that I blog while I'm away!
