Tents, tacos, and snorkels

OI lay in my tent, side unzipped with only a screen, me and the tropics outside. A huge fan whirred air around the room but didn't block out the beautiful night sounds from the outdoors. Huge palm leaves rustled in the wind, frogs croaked their melodies, crickets played their symphony, and an occasionaly rooster cook-a-doodle-blehed. I feel asleep to the sounds of Big Corn Island, awoken occassionally by the odd loud crack of a branch, or the light patter of wind. When the light seeped into the tent at 5 am, I peeked out from under my eyelids and saw the sky turning a golden pink colour.

After a snap on my phone, I settled back to continue my sleep. The next hours were restless until I pulled out my book to read. As the sun rose higher in the sky, it creeped onto my bed and made lying there too hot. A cold shower and breakfast was served on the deck. Fresh Crepes, tropical fruit from the garden, and a nice breeze in the hot sun.

We walked down to the dive shop and rented snorkle gear. We explored the turquoise waters and a large coral reef. Fish in neon yellows, irredescent blues, vibrant greens, and other bright colours darted through crevices in the rocks.  Giant, bright, royal blue leaves fluttered in the underwater currents. Waves pushed against us as we explored around the bay. The white sand rippled and hills formed on the ocean floor. This is paradise.

After a swim with our snorkels, we headed to a tiny hut of a store/restaurant and ordered some chicken tacos.
Back to the dive shop for some snorkling and we spotted a large, graceful stingray coasting through the water in front of us. It turned and shot off through the waves only to circle around to our other side. I scraped my leg on the coral and had large bumps forming on my bum....yep, I scraped my bum. A lazy day, finished with lobster tail and a quiet night in...Island life is good!
